Congratulations to the following Oceanside DECA members on a very successful State Career Conference. Over 2,000 students from across New York State competed at the conference held in Rochester NY, March 4-7, 2008.
The Oceanside DECA Chapter has the distinction of having won the highest number of competitive event awards and will send the largest contingent representing New York State to the DECA National Career Conference in Atlanta Georgia, April 25-30, 2008
 DECA’s objective is to support the development of marketing and management skills in career areas such as hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration and entrepreneurship.
More than 185,000 student members of DECA start out competing in their local school each year in one or more of 70 different competitive events. Approximately 140,000 move up from their school to a district or state conference. About 10,000 high school students earn the right to attend and compete at the High School (DECA) International Career Development Conference by winning their competition at the state level.
The following won the right to represent Oceanside DECA:

Stephen Kitzen winner of the $20,000 McKelvey Foundation    Entrepreneurial Scholarship
Shawn Goldsmith-Don DeBolt-$2,000 IFA Scholarship
Michelle Feibusch winner of the $500 Sunkist Challenge Scholarship
