DANTE FOUNDATION OF NASSAU COUNTY – The Dante Foundation is a nonprofit organization to foster Italo-American heritage and culture through education and philanthropic endeavors.  They are awarding several $5,000 scholarships to graduating high school students of Italo-American ancestry who reside in Nassau or Suffolk County and who will be attending an accredited college or university. They are seeking students who have achieved high standards in the academics, participated in extra curricular activities and scored above average on the SAT exams.  They will accept a maximum of four applications from each school.

 Please give your name to Mr. Sloan in Guidance S103A and also to obtain information to be included with submission of application packet.

 

THE SOROPTIMIST VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD – Are you a young woman between the ages of 14 and 18 who volunteers in your community or school? Who sees challenges instead of obstacles?  Hope instead of despair?  If you are a young woman who believes in the power of volunteer action, then you may be eligible to win a soroptimist Violet Richardson Award.  SINC will award $500 to the local winner of the Violet Richardson Award.  Club level winners then become eligible for one of 28 $1,000 awards. In addition $1,000 will be contributed in honor of these winners to their volunteer organizations. 

ELIGIBILITY:  Completed applications, activity sheet/resume and any supporting materials must be received by January 30th.  Eligible applicants are young women who:

Below you will find a list of scholarships that High School students from Oceanside area are eligible for.  Since 2003, StudentScholarships.org has been focused on providing scholarship information to students from New York

  1. Davidson Fellows Scholarships - $50,000 (Deadline: February 1, 2012)

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000, and $10,000.  To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must:

  1. Be 18 or younger as of Oct. 4
  2. Be a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S., or a Permanent Resident of the U.S. residing in the U.S., or be stationed overseas due to active U.S. military duty
  1. The Grand Scholarship - $10,000 (Deadline: March 1, 2012)

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Participants are judged based on their initial application, on-site debates and participation during the week.  Multiple students receive scholarships in the first round and the total number of students selected dictates how much each student will receive.
  1. Odenza Marketing Award - $500 (Deadline:  March 30, 2012)

To be considered eligible for the Odenza Marketing Scholarship you must:

  1. Be between the ages of 16 and 25 on March 30, 2012
  2. Submit answers to the essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the March 30, 2012 deadline.
  1. Vancouver Restaurant Scholarship - $500 (Deadline: May 30, 2012)

      To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be between the ages of 15-21, as of May 30, 2012 deadling
  2. Be a full time student in 2012 in either igh School or College/University
  3. Answer the essay question found on the application page
  1. Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship - $5,000 (Deadline: May 30, 2012)

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. As of May 30, 2012 deadline, be under 25 years of age
  2. Be currently a senior in high school or in your first year of university or college

  1. Big Dig Scholarship  - $3,000 (Deadline:  June 1, 2012)

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. You must be currently in Grade 12 and entering into your first year of college/university in 2012 or be currently in your first or second year.
  2. Submit an essay that is under 1,000 words by the stated deadline.
  1. Man Mac Automatic Scholarship - $500 (Deadline: June 15, 2012)

To be considered eligible for the Man Mac Automatic Transmission Scholarship a student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be enrolled or expect to be enrolled in an undergraduate program by the Fall of 2012.  The school you attend must be located within Canada or the United States.  
  1. BBG Communications Scholarship - $1,000 (Deadline:  June 30, 2012)

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be between the ages of 16 and 21 on June 30, 2012
  2. Submit answers to the two essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 30, 2012 deadline

TRI COUNTY INSURANCE AGENTS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The “JOEL S. POLLACK Memorial ScholarshipTri County will award $2500 in the form of Two $1,250 scholarships to two students in the graduating class of 22012, to be used towards expenses at the college of their choice.

The “STEPHEN T. DOOLEY COMMUNITY SERVICE” Scholarship. - $2500 will be awarded to a high school graduate who has and continues to demonstrate exemplary community service, to be used towards college expenses.

BETHPAGE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION FOUNDATION  -  is pleased to announce the kick off of their Scholarship Program.  They have joined their scholarship program with the Credit Union Association of New York scholarship program and will be awarding ten $1,000 scholarships to credit union members. 

The Bethpage Federal Credit Union Foundation will award these scholarships to qualifying High School seniors planning to attend an accredited College or University. Applicants who apply for either scholarship will automatically be entered into both the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Foundation Scholarship and the Credit Union Association of New York scholarship.

THE NEW YORK WATER ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION  - will be offering a 4-year scholarship worth a total of $10,000.  Year 1: $1,000, Year 2: $2,000, Year 3: $3,000, Year 4: 4,000.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Applicant must be and remain a New York State resident.
  2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who will be enrolled at a College or University by September 2012.
  3. Applicant must be enrolling in and graduate from a BS or BE full-time program with a focus on environmental issues. Such programs could include but are not limited to:
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Civil Engineering with an environmental minor
    • Chemical Engineering with an environmental minor
    • Hydrogeology with an environmental emphasis
    • Biology or Microbiology, with an environmental emphasis

MOLLOY COLLEGE FRESHMEN SCHOLARSHIPS

 

 

Molloy Scholar’s Program – Full tuition scholarships for entering full-time freshmen.  Awards are based on academic achievement and college aptitude test scores.  Minimum criteria for consideration: 95% high school average and wither a combined verbal and math SAT score of 1280 or 28 on the ACT.  Scholarships are renewable annually.

 

Dominican Academic Scholarships – Partial tuition scholarships, ranging from $2,000 to $17,000 based on academic achievement and college aptitude test scores.  Recipients must be first semester full-time freshmen.  Scholarships are renewable annually.

 

Molloy College Community Service Award – Partial tuition awards ranging from $500 to $4,000 per year awarded to entering full-time freshmen who demonstrated a commitment to their community and school.  Interested students must file a community service scholarship application, which is available in the Office of Admissions.  Scholarships are renewable annually.  Applications for this award are also available in Guidance, Room S103.  See Mrs. Parker

 

FINE ARTS AND PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS – Awards ranging from partial to full tuition scholarships for entering full-time freshmen who are adjudged to have exceptional talent, or have achieved proficiency in art or music.  Qualifications are demonstrated through audition, the submission of a portfolio, or other documented experience.  Recipients must major in the areas for which the scholarships are awarded.  Scholarships are renewable annually.

 

FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS – A large number of funded partial tuition scholarships are available for entering freshmen.  Criteria vary for each scholarship, and a complete listing is available in the Molloy College catalog.  Eligible candidates will be identified by the Office of Admissions.

THE LONG ISLAND 2 DAY WALK TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER SCHOLARSHIP

 

LI2Day: - This is a $2,500 scholarship that will be awarded to each of six graduating seniors in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. 

 

Maria A. Sciara: - This is a $1000 scholarship. 

 

Applicants for either scholarship must also reside in Nassau or Suffolk County

 

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION – 2012 MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP Scholarship, Leadership and Financial Need –500 awards will be given for the 2012-13 through 2015-16 academic years.  Applications must be submitted to the Elks Lodge nearest your home.  Visit www.elks.org/enf/FindALodge.cfm to find the Lodge closet to you.  Many Lodges are only open in the evenings and on weekends, so be sure to contact the Lodge for an application and drop off times.

2012 HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP – The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
