District Spelling Bee

The Second Annual Oceanside School's District Wide Spelling Bee was held on February 27th at the Oceanside Middle School Auditorium. Fourth, fifth and sixth grade spelling bee winners from the spelling bees held at each elementary school were present to compete for the district wide championship. Dr. Siris, principal of School #9E, moderated the bee and Mrs. Cicerani, Oceanside Middle School English Chairperson , called the words for the participants.

Grade 4 Contestants: Mubarak Shah (#2), Matthew Herman (#3), Peter Connell (#4), Dominic Bellissimo (#5), Naomi DeGuzman (#8), Max Anhouse (#9E)

Grade 5 Contestants: Jonathan Ju (#2), Matthew Rickman (#3), Scott Samaroo (#4), Nicholas Minioudis (#5), Jason Wittmer (#8), Jessica Klein (#9E)

Grade 6 Contestants: Stephanie Cohen (#2), Sean Kelly (#3), John Proscia (#4), Vincent Picone (#5), Michael Weiss (#8), Jordan Cohen (#9E).

After six rounds of outstanding spelling the following winners were declared:

DISTRICT WIDE CHAMPION: Stephanie Cohen (Grade 6 - School #2)
DISTRICT WIDE RUNNER UP: Michael Weiss (Grade 6 - School # 8)

GRADE FOUR DISTRICT WIDE CHAMPION: Peter Connell (School # 4)

GRADE FIVE DISTRICT WIDE CHAMPION: Nicholas Minoudis (School #5)
